     More than 130,000 people lined the banks of the Liffey today to watch the historic FlightFest fly-past between the East Link Bridge and the Talbot Memorial Bridge.  
The last remaining airworthy B-17 Flying Fortress in Europe, the Sally B. was originally delivered
to the US Army Air Force in June 1945 The Sally B was one of five B-17s used as the ‘Mephis Belle’ 
in the film of the same name. This aircraft is based at the Imperial War Museum in Duxford

The Catalina Flying Boat PBY-5A was originally delivered to the Royal Canadian Airforce in 1943 and was used for bomber reconnaissance and anti-submarine patrols over the Pacific.

The event was brought to a close by the British Airways A380 Airbus,
which loomed large over Dublin city. www.britishairways.com/
     A selection of the artwork from the IAA DCC FlightFest School Art Competition is on display in the Hugh Lane Gallery until Tuesday 24th September.

     FlightFest was made possible by a partnership of the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) and Dublin City Council in association with the air finance and leasing community and The Gathering Ireland 2013.
