Michael Collins' Last Day Broadcaster John Creedon retraces the final hours of Michael Collins, of the new Republic's provisional government, following his route reach West Cork on August 22, 1922 - the day of his assassination. John tells how Collins and his companions were lured into an ambush, the short gun battle in which the political leader was fatally shot in the head. Reconstructing the events of that day, John Creedon uses the same armoured car from the convoy, as well as testimonies from historians and a grand-niece of Michael Collins.

Legendary journeys that have changed the face of Ireland continues as Evelyn O'Rourke retraces Donal Cam O'Sullivan Beare's march from West Cork to Leitrim in January 1603. This trek was undertaken by civilians as opposed to an army, men, women and children in O'Sullivan Beare's care endure harsh winter conditions as they fled oppression from English and their own countrymen. Of the estimated 1,000 that set off from West Cork, only 34 arrived at their destination and Evelyn reveals how the tale ends up in the court of Philip III in Spain
RTÉ Two 20.25 Death Camp Treblinka: Survivor Stories 
How Samuel Willenberg and Kalman Taigman escaped from the concentration campTreblinka Poland, where more than 800,000 Polish Jews died during the Nazi Holocaust. The two men fled during a revolt in August 1943, before one of them sought vengeance in the 1944 Warsaw Uprising and the other appeared at the trial of Adolf Eichmann for war crimes in 1961.

Discovery  20.00 Platoon: The True Story 
Oliver Stone reveals the real-life events that inspired his film and talks about the soldiers who he fought alongside in the Vietnam War, and who he immortalised on the big screen. This documentary examines how much of Platoon was based on Stone's personal recollections of the war. Features contributions from Star Willem Dafoe (Sgt Elias) and Dale Dye, the Vietnam veteran and former Marine who worked as the military adviser on the movie

Channel 4, 21.00 The Murder Trial 
Documentary showing remotely operated cameras film the retrial of Scottish businessman Nat Fraser, accused of murdering his wife in 1998. Found guilty, Fraser was jailed for at least 25 years, but he started a long appeal process that eventually saw the conviction quashed, and in April 2012, he was sent back to the High Court in Edinburgh, Scotland for a fresh trial.
